I am writing on behalf of the Anthropology Department and our
Co-Sponsors to formally invite you to attend a very special academic
event – the first in our Department’s Annual Lecture series.
Our Inaugural Lecturer is Dr. Faye V. Harrison, Professor of
African-American Studies and of Anthropology at the University of
Florida. Prof. Harrison has conducted research in the U.S., U.K., and
the Caribbean. She specializes in the political economy and politics of
interlocking social inequalities, urban poverty, and human rights
conflicts as well as the history and politics of anthropology.
Professor Harrison will speak on: ‘Diversity, (In)Equality & Justice: An
Anthropological Perspective on Globalization, Human Rights, and the
Politics of Culture’.
This presentation will take place on Monday, October 20th in Room 305
(the Senior Common Room) of Founders College: a Reception & Book-Signing
will occur there from 5:l5-6:00 p.m., followed by the Lecture from
6:00-7:00 p.m.
